Is it Worth it?
*Avery’s Pov*
My name is Avery, I'm fourteen years old. I am like any other teenager, I like to have fun but I am not outgoing. If I would describe myself I would say private, bashful and I normally don't do things out of my comfort zone. As you're reading I know you might think that i'm a nerd or a goody-good, but I am going to tell you a story of when I learned a lesson.
It was one hot summer day when it all started. School had just finished and I was walking, with my best friend named Amanda, towards the bus stop.
“Oh no” I said to myself worryingly.
At the bus stop was the group to the group of boys that always bothered everyone, they started to yell things at me like “you're a nobody” or “go back where you come from”. Oh yeah I forgot to include that I was the new kid at school and surprisingly I was the the new target.
Luckily once I reached the bus stop the bus was already their. I jumped on, swiped the transpass and walked to a row of a two seats that were empty. Once I sat down i had tears in my eyes, but I didn't let them fall.
“are you ok?” Amanda asked concerned.
“Yeah, I just dont know why they always bother me if I did nothing to them.” My voice shaky as I spoke.
“Dont pay attention to them they just think that they have power over everyone in the school, they use to do the same to me”. Amanda replied giving me a side hug.
“Thank you” I said as I swallowed the lump in my throat.
When I looked up I saw that this was my stop. I said bye to Amanda and headed home. When I finally got home I opened the door, as usual my mom worked until late, I ran into my room and cried into my pillow.
All of a sudden my phone started to vibrate and I confusingly grabbed the phone and answered the call.
“Hello?” I answered in barely a whisper
“Hey! is me Amanda I was calling to check if are ok”
“Yeah I am” I said feeling guilty about not telling her the truth.
“You dont sound fine” Amanda answered cautiously
“Im fine, I have to go i'll see you tomorrow” I said and ended the call, as something popped into my head.
*Amanda’s POV*
The next day I meet Avery at my locker. For some reason she was really happy and couldn't stop smiling. I immediately knew something was wrong but I did not want to pressure her about it. For the rest of the day we talked and actually had a good day.
*Avery’s POV*
2 Months later
I’ve spent two months still thinking about the plan, everyday the group bothers me but I just walk right past them. They still think that they are the head of the school, but now lets see who it is!
When I got to school I was a new person, I walked down the hallways as if everyone knew me. Throughout the whole day I did things that I would never do such as I skipped some classes, and got into a fight. But by the end of the day I had gotten the power I wanted and it felt good. But thats what I thought at first.
*Narrator's POV*
As months went by Avery liked the way power felt but she also remembers what she had lost. Like in the book MacBeth, MacBeth had changed when he felt he wanted power.Avery also wanted power but to get revenge. As time went on she didn't like the way it was changing her and didn't want to let it get further. Also Avery did not want to feel regret like MacBeth did.
