The Spell
Once upon a time there was a princess named Adeline. Adeline was a beautiful and unique girl who had cyan blue eyes and fair skin. Because of a witches curse, she was born without any hair. This caused Adeline to fear leaving her palace. Adeline never liked to go outside or go to royal balls. She knew she was different and she feared the stares and laughter of others. She saw portraits of other princesses with beautiful long locks, which made her feel as if people did not think of her like they did the other princesses. One day, Adeline’s mother and father sent the whole kingdom invitations to their annual ball. Adeline begged her parents to not make her go, but they found it essential for her to attend. At that point, she knew there was no way of getting out of the disaster. The princess started to come up with a brilliant idea to distract stares from her fellow people. She called her fairy godmother, Wanda, for help. Wanda came to Adeline right away. She asked Wanda to make her the prettiest ball gown she possibly could. She agreed to help her. Adeline looked up and saw a shimmering light floating in the air. She was watching the light dance around the room as Wanda sang a tune to make the dress. Adeline then saw her fairy godmother holding her magnificent creation. The dress was bright pink with sparkly jewels all over it. She picked Wanda up and gave her the biggest hug. Adeline put her new dress on and looked in her mirror. She absolutely adored her dress, but she still did not feel like the dress could take away all the stares. Then, she asked Wanda to make her a mask. Wanda sang her tune again and made Adeline a mask that matched her dress. After she looked in the mirror, she still felt unhappy. Adeline finally asked Wanda to make her a wig. She looked in the mirror one last time, and when she saw herself, she finally felt like a beautiful princess. As she made her entrance into the ballroom, she caught a glance of a handsome young gentleman. He immediately looked her way, in awe of her beauty. He quickly approached her and asked her to dance. After dancing the night away, he invited Adeline to the garden to look at the stars. They ended their night with a sweet kiss and he begged to see her again. As she returned to her room, she called out to her fairy godmother to tell her all about the wonderful evening she experienced and to thank her for her outfit. As the princess thanked her, Wanda turned her toward the mirror and explained to her that it was only a spell that only allowed her to see the wig and the mask. Adeline was so confused about how the handsome gentleman could have picked her over all the other girls. Wanda explained that he saw her true beauty that came from within. From that day forward, Adeline walked around the kingdom with her handsome gentleman and her head held high.
