11:11. Dandelion. 4 leaf clover. Dream Catcher. Pennies throw down wells only to be sunk into the depths of the water. Luck and wishes just weren't Natalie’s thing.
Her velvet red hair cascaded down her shoulder as her feet sunk into the freshly moist sand. It was a late Saturday night; the moon hanging high in the sky, and Natalie was walking along the shore questioning her bad luck. Every night at 11:11 she'd make a wish; whenever there was a dandelion she made a wish and blew; in the clover cover grass, you'd find her on her knees searching for one with 4 leaves; a dream catcher hung above her bed; and pennies or different coins were thrown in the well almost ever day; but still, no matter how hard she tried, Natalie's wishes seemed to never come true.
"Will this bad luck EVER go away??!" loudly whispered Natalie sighing. No answer. Just the wind making its way to Elsewhere, free to live a dream, or wish, while Natalie was stuck without the slightest hint of what her future could possibly bring. Suddenly a shooting star danced across the sky, sending a sudden glow upon the ocean. A twinkle set off in her eyes as she thought about her wish.
Should I make it? Will it actually come true? Am I only getting my hopes up over a falling star? No. You will make a wish on this shooting star and you will do it NOW! The voice inside her said with confidents. Okay, okay, Natalie said arguing with herself.
Her eye lids closed as her lips moved, mouthing, "I wish to find someone who makes me happy and I truly belong with." The words were spoken as her eyes opened looking upward to the sky. A slight sigh escaped her lips, as she turned on her heals to walk back to her wondrous beach house.
'Beep' 'Beep' 'Beep' sounded the alarm clock, flashing 11:11 in digital green numbers. "Another day filled with wishes." Once out the bed, Natalie walked through the door into the kitchen to find her collection of good luck charms.
"You have no life." A voice said from behind her. Natalie jumped in the air, spinning around quickly.
"What the heck, Mandy!" gasped Natalie, placing a hand over her racing heart. "How'd you even get in?"
"Key, duh." She replied throwing it upon the marble counter top. "Besides, I know what time you wake up and to tell you the truth, luck isn't really your thing. If you haven't noticed..." her voice distanced as she walked into the other room. Natalie rolled her eyes to her friend's remark. Yes, luck may not be her thing, but that didn't mean she would give up.
"Nat! The door is for you!!" Mandy shouted from the doorway. There was some sudden movement from upstairs then a door opened as the pounding of footsteps came down the stairs. From the doorway, Andrew looked on with greens orbs as Natalie's figure came into view. She was wearing fitted skinny jeans and a pink Hollister shirt with her hair handing slightly to the side. In the sight of her, he couldn't help to notice how beautiful she looked in her All-American girl look.
"Hey Drew." Natalie half-heartily said.
"Hey Nat." He replied in a whisper causing her to laugh and him to blush suddenly.
"What brings you here? Not to sound rude or anything." Natalie quickly added as she motioned for him to go out onto the porch.
What was he here for? That much he didn't much know. All he knew is that, that night, he wished upon a shooting star wishing for someone to complete him and once he woke up this morning, all signs lead him here. "Well..." he started. "Last night I saw this shooting star. It went right across the sky, shocking me in fact but to the fact that it reminded me of... you." Andrew said, looking at her. Natalie looked back surprised that he had also seen the same shooting star she had and even more so that it reminded him of, well her.
"That's sweet." She managed to say. Looking back at him, she felt a certain force tugging the two closer and closer together. Within no time, their lips were together, moving as one for the whole world to experience. Silent sparks went off around their heads that only they could feel. The butterflies soon dissolved in their stomachs as the kiss came to an end. Both smiled, not saying a word because words didn't have to be said. It was all in the kiss. But there was one thing Natalie had to say: "Even though my luck with dandelions, wishing wells, and clovers sucked; Shooting stars are by far my miracle worker."

This piece is mainly just about people and their superstitions about objects that seem to have brought luck into their lives. I hope that you see sometimes magic does not help the situation; just being you does.
