An Angel Story
You're always told to live life to the fullest. You're told that life passes quickly, and if you don't use your time wisely, it could be too late. Oh, how I wish I had listened.
In my past life, I was a very successful student, reaching for my goal to become the doctor I had always wanted to become. I had been in med school for almost 5 years, and I could see graduation close in my future. My parents had passed away a few years before from natural causes, so I was all alone in this big world, but I could handle myself. I was determined to live an independent lifestyle. I never had time for friends, never had time to date. I just let my life pass me by day by day.
The date was December 8th, close to Christmas time. All you heard on the radio was the same old Christmas songs and jingles they played every year. I had just gotten back from school. While laying in my apartment, I decided to go out to eat for the first time in months. At the second stoplight I got to, the light flashed from red to green. Before I knew what was coming, I was hit straight on by a drunk, Ford truck driver. I died on impact.
Light, that's all I can remember. Through my closed eyelids, the light shone bright onto me. I opened my eyes, and there I was, laying in heaven. I knew immediately it was heaven. The only thing I can think of to describe it would be a white, shining, paradise. Suddenly, I felt nothing but pure happiness. No more stress, no more worries, just peace. The thought of me being dead didn't even cross my mind.
"Welcome my child, to paradise," I heard a loud, yet soothing, male voice say.
"Everything is so....beautiful," I whispered.
"It sure is, isn't it?" This time when I heard a male voice, it wasn't the same as the one I had heard before. I turned to look behind me and there was a young, brunette male speaking to me. He wasn't too bad looking either!
"Sorry if I scared you, I'm Gabe. You're new here aren't you?"
"Um....yes, I am new here. I'm Anne."
"Ah, God told me to look out for you."
"Wait a minute, God knew I was gonna be here?"
"Oh yes, of course!"
He told me how I had died too quickly, and how by a miracle God wanted to give me a second chance to live my life since I never really got to. I had 3 months, and within those three months if I had not lived my life to the fullest, then I would be brought back up to heaven. If not, then I could remain human again. The only catch is, I would be a whole new person.
I was sent back down to my hometown on earth at the same age I was when I passed. For the next month, I did the craziest things. I would walk all over town, go to amusement parks, and just live my life to the fullest.
During the second month, I started realizing there was not that much for me to do. I didn't have a car, or license, or anything. I was a whole new person, I had nothing. Then, one day while at the park, I met him.
His name was Adrian, and he was the most beautiful man I had ever laid my eyes on. We began talking and over the next month, I fell in love with his caring ways and his sweet personality. We moved in together and he was the greatest thing that had ever happened to me. He taught me how to live my life to the fullest, and never let any moment pass by.
God had seen the fact that I had fallen in love, and that I had learned to live. I was allowed to remain human for the rest of my life. Adrian and I then got married, and started a family. I told him the story of everything that happened. It is very hard to believe, but somehow he managed to.
He and I still believe God brought us together. Had He never given me a second chance at life, Adrian would not be here. Our family would not be here. Everything would be completely different. Before, I used to believe that money and success were the best things to happen to me but now I realize, life is the greatest gift I have ever received.
