Lazy Sort of Hurry
Falling in a lazy sort of hurry
Wind stirring up little flurries
In the deep dark of night
The porch light making them shine so bright
Like stars tumbling down to Earth
They give fast-moving cars a wide berth
Outlining bare branches
Tumbling off in small avalanches
The sky is a big black blanket covering the town
Each extremely individual, they dance down, down, down
Where they become a soft, white blanket
The wind and scraping branches sing a duet
A calming lullaby
That sings me off to sleep, where I can fly.
