Wildlife
This world is so gray and tiring like there is no color anywhere. Life just creeps by with no expectations and nothing to anticipate. I’ve been longing for daisies to grow all around me so I won’t feel down anymore. A forest coming alive and inviting me in would bring the most joy to my world.
A quartet of birds sings with me while a frog keeps the beat. Trees come to dance with me as if they have danced all their lives. The sun gives me the energy to keep going. Rabbits all around me make harmony. One comes up to me and hands me a pretty pink rose. I put it in my pocket for safekeeping. He jumps with joy as I, accepting his gift, smile at him. I trip, but an apple tree catches me and twirls me around. Squirrels juggle acorns to the beat of the music. Deer bring out trays of berries and other sweet fruits in various colors. Swans glide in like planes landing smoothly. A bear marches in and mounts me on his shoulders so I can see above everything. The flowers even seem to be in a cheerful mood and very excited! Everything is happy and alive.
A fox plucks vines like a bass as a duet of snakes hiss like violins. Fish make bubble sounds like timpani. An eagle and a hawk swoop in and listen to all of us as they fluff up their feathers. A raccoon leaps and sways to the beat as if he does it everyday. A mama possum comes in with all her joeys as they jump around happy and frivolous. Life is peaceful and there is no worry in the world; all are content and are living in the moment.
I return to the present and realize that I was only daydreaming. I’m not in the world of wildlife and music. I unwillingly go back into the world of stress and no life. Dreariness takes over. I reach in my pocket and feel something prick me. I take it out and it’s a pretty pink rose, and I wonder, “Was it all just a dream?”
