Tiny repercussions of your unflattering words still resonate here and there in this empty chamber, and I cannot help but feel myself grow smaller and smaller with each passing blow, and when I curl up into myself, I don’t feel anything there—it’s just a blank slate of a ghost-like presence of whatever used to be there, but is already gone now.
So I sing to myself softly, hoping, maybe then the nightmares will start to go away.
