(8 years old at the moment) It’s was a cold after christmas morning in my home at Trenton home with my family inside still sleeping while I wasn’t able to sleep because something inside was bugging me but I couldn’t comprehend what it was and I couldn’t so I stayed up peeking out the window. Snow on the ground like a bright white blanket coating the ground blocking out all the green of the grass. It was peaceful, so I thought. Then it happened, The loud bangs of guns. Boom! Boom! Boom!, it got louder and louder. It awaken my parents we were so scared hiding taking cover trying not to get hurt or hit, suddenly the noise stopped and I heard a knock at the door, we were traumatized we didn’t know what to do, we didn’t know if we should open the door or leave it closed. My dad stepped up and cracked open the door. “Who are you” my dad said, “I’m hurt i’ve been shot I need treatment HELP ME!!” My dad open the door and let him in. “What is your name”? “Robert, Robert Baker. My dad went to the kitchen to get the first aid kit and right before he left Rober slammed the and locked it and took out his gun and shot my dad unexpectedly. My dad fell to the ground in cold blood. Me and my mom was scared for our lives we ran and tried to go upstairs and try to save ourselves and he shot my mom in the back and she fell senselessly. I ran upstairs knowing I lost my parents and knowing i’m on my own. I ran upstairs sobbing and locked the door and hid behind a desk in my room hoping he wouldn’t catch me.

I’m hiding behind this desk scared for my life trying not to be caught and so I don’t die i’m not ready to die I got so much to live for. I heard the footsteps, he knocked on the door. I covered my mouth trying not to make a sound, the knocking stopped there was a dead silence I heard nothing. Out of the blue he started kicking the door Bang! He kept pounding the door trying to get open the door and eventually he succeeded. He barged in and looked around everywhere. He looked over the desk and walked over slow, he put one hand on his gun on his waist “get up don’t try anything stupid” I stood up slowly and walked over shaking in my boots. “I will do anything just please don’t shoot me”. “Shut up”. “Please don’t hurt me” tears running down my eyes, he snatched his gun from his waist and knocking me cold to the ground I was unconscious from the heavy blow to the face laying there while Robert strolling the house finding things to take and to use. Took a long triple braided rope to use to tie me up while i’m unconscious to the blow to the face from the gun with a huge sore knot on the side of my face from the impact. Robert tied me up with the rope and put me in a big brown sack and tied it and threw me on his brown hurt and close he house door and got on the horse and left away from my house.

I opened my eyes and found myself in a dark place not knowing where i’m at with a right feelings around my body against a wall. The lights flickered on, I found myself in a random place i’ve never found myself in trapped in the ropes he got from my house. I began to catch back my sight that I lost when the lights came on, I looked around and saw other people beaten, and tied in viciously hurt from head to toe. There was a pattern, they all were African American, Robert entered the room it’s shocked me how he’s the only white person out of the whole room. I had sharp pains I could feel the fresh blood from the cuts and scrapes from my torso feeling the burns from the opened wounds wondering how i’d ever escape from this horrible pain. I was looking all around and that’s when I spotted a knife right there close in my grasp, Robert gave me a dead evil look for approximately a min and shook his head and walked away. I quickly grabbed the knife and put it in my pocket and put on a sore person act so he wouldn’t notice. I cut myself loose and I ran and ran and didn’t look back I kept running and eventually I got far enough and far enough I stopped knowing I have gotten away and the shocking outstanding thought in my mind that i’ve survived and gotten away from all the pain and scars, I was in trenton still and I ran down to my house and took some clothes I needed and went back to running to be on the safe side, I survived!.

(14 years old at the moment) It’s been about 4 years since I lost my parents and was capture as a slave. Since then i’ve been training and putting myself in combat training with guns and having as much strategy as I possibly can. I was working hard and I peep over and saw a large group people I got scared thinking I’d go through my experience again. I slowly walked over didn’t get  close to them tried seeing who they were. The Men were kneeling, wearing blue soldier like uniforms. On accident I made a loud sound stepping closer, The grass cracked. The man standing talking spotted me I was shaking I couldn’t move I had a flashback of my past experience thinking will it happen again I was terrified not knowing what to do I just stood there in terror without a reaction. Unexpectedly expecting the worse to happen, he called for me, “Come here don’t be scared” I walked over not knowing what to expect still thinking what could possibly happened in the back of my mind. He held out his hand “My name is George Washington, General of the continental army”, And this is my senator aid, Alexander Hamilton”. All my fears instantly went away, I know these men are very strategize soldiers who will stop at nothing to win battles they encounter. “I’m Brandon Gordon, I’m not a soldier but I train like one”. “I know, I’ve saw you a couple times training while I was talking to my army. We could use someone like you, would you like to join the continental army?” General Washington said. “It would be a honor General I couldn’t show how happy I was to be a soldier for one of the best armies out there, maybe life isn’t as bad as it was set out to be as a slave before.

Our army was preparing for one of the battles which could change the face of America forever and end one of the biggest wars known as the American Revolution war. “Stay smart and don’t hold back for no man” General Washington made clear, “we’re going there to win and to only win not show the British any mercy”. We head sneaking down to Yorktown, Virginia on our horses when we spotting a man known as The general of the British, Lord Charles Cornwallis. On our side, we had approximately 17,000 soldiers from how General Washington combined men of the French and Continental army which made us the Franco-America to take on the 9,000 British soldiers under Cornwallis control. Our army was all set for the siege on The British. “Are we ready boys”, “yes general !” all the members shouted. “ We are here to win we will not stand down we ride right over and we kill each of them one by one without any remorse understand me boys?” “yes general !” the army shouted again. On my signal we go. The British did not know we were there, they were clueless and didn’t know what was about to come at them, we were about to raid on the British and siege them and show them who is the most superior army there is which is led by George Washington himself. General Washington gave his signal. We all galoped our horses at full speed over to the British, we were all set and ready for this battle to go down. The battle started we came full charge at the British, there were soldiers falling from the bullets and gun shots all around. I am going all out killing the British soldiers for the sake of our army doing the best I can to impress my general. Men on both sides were falling to the ground wounded or dead. 500 British, 80 Americans, and 200 French soldiers were shot or wounded. I tried the best I can to survive I took cover to reload and got back up and went back to full charging finishing the job for the army. General Washington was next to  his army which was the continental army while  Jean Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, Comte de Rochambeau was with their French soldiers. The gun ranging had stopped, it was peace in the air, The French and Continental armies trapped the British. Then, the most shocking thing happened which nobody thought would have happened. Cornwallis army of British dropped their weapons and didn’t battle anymore. The battle was over, Franco-America has won, the British army has surrendered to General Washington and the French. The American revolution was officially over with a win from Franco-America. We did it! We made the British surrender. “I am proud of you Brandon, you showed a lot of hard work and dedication against the British and I praise you for that”. We have won and I’ve never been so proud, from my struggles at a young age, i’ve finally overcame them. I know deep down My parents will be proud of me for this, and deep down I also know I will go down in history for this battle as a dedicated hard worker who overcame all obstacles.
