It’s cold here, it hurts but I remember, I remember how I got here,
It was mother, I remember we were so happy, what changed her?
I remember one day father came home really late one night,
I heard them yelling I hid in my room with no light,
I knew if I made a noise it would get worse,
Once they were done arguing mother would start drinking again,
When she is like that she hurts me, I get bruises and cuts that always cause me pain,
Father is never home he is always away somewhere but, I know he is trying for us I hope,
One day mother was different, she wasn’t drinking or yelling,
She was just standing there over me holding something,
What is it? “ Please just go away you monster!” She placed her hand on my mouth, “ What?”
Then suddenly I got a sharp pain in my chest and it didn’t stop, “ Mother, why does it hurt?”
I started coughing and tried to sit up but she was holding me down,
“ Die, die, die! Just die already!” She yelled, what did I do?
I’m sorry for whatever I did please let me stay with you!
In my last moments I finally saw my mother smile then it was black I felt nothing, no pain
Then I saw her and I was able to stay without getting hurt by her I want to stay with you mother

The author's comments:

I wrote this poem one day during tutorial and I wanted to wanted show emotion in it. I wanted to also tell a story that could be happening somewhere. (DISCLAIMER, it is not about me.) I also wanted the readers to come up with their own conclussion. I really enjoy poems like that. Also it's not in a traditional sonnet style, it's a little longer.
