The Creature I Have Hidden
People move and breath, they lie through their teeth
They hurt with words and hands and even silence
No longer needing their sword and their sheath
Their quiet is broken by no siren
I am a person, I am not lying
Though I might have time and time and again
This moment of truth is quite defying
Even for me, in these old realms of men
I do not think I want to be people
Because I have to believe in escape
And truth of this life will only ripple
Through my lies of the past, no more blank slate
How can I try to change human nature?
Without changing into a new creature
