Help can be found when least expected
I was going to get gas yesterday,
when I saw a cat laying in my yard.
I got out to see what he had to say,
he asked me why life had to be so hard.
I told him that it will get better soon,
but he said that he has lost all his hope.
With sad eyes he then looked up at the moon.
“Since I lost my home, it’s been hard to cope.”
“What happened to your home, if I may ask?”
“They moved away and left me here alone.”
His face was frozen, like he had a mask,
like it was when I found him lying prone.
I asked him to come inside for the night,
hoping it would help his mood become bright.
