The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.

-Robert Frost

Quite long ago, I lived a constant lie,
Though father loved me so, I had to go,
For my life was unraveling ‘fore his eyes,
So to a shelter I would bring my woe,
A room so large, a fool you could not be,
So maybe hiding was the safest way,
To starting fresh, they tried to set me free,
Before our eyes our world had turned to grey,
And now our lives will never be the same,
The night is dark, and fear is thick as fog,
He cannot see our faces through the shame,
He will no longer kick us like a dog,
To seize whatever’s left and make amends,
No kindness left, for he forgot to bend.
