Of so little meaning to most is this
four letter word, that is used to express
how much a woman may adore and miss
the one she lusts for and strives to impress.

Once used to seal a bond between two,
now abused, misused, of piffling meaning.
Easily rolled off the naïve and the loose
tongues of the ignorant and the obscene.

But there are few who know that which is true.
Not lust, but love and the freedom it brings.
To them, it’s not another misused word.
For her, its reason for her mourning ring.

Till death do us part only but a phrase
She showed true to love to him despite his fate.

The author's comments:
Throughout my life I have questioned the true meaning of this word and this sonnet is a part my way of expressing one definition of the word in my eyes.
