Forever Means Forever

It seems to me eternity will take a lot of time,
And we don't know what it means, only that we find
It's given in a moment to the person of the day,
When you don't know where you're going, or if they'll even stay.
But people do it anyway without a second thought.
Until it's torn away as you find out what they're not.
So why must we insist on letting time pass by?
Or giving it away to those who say goodbye?
I wish that I could tell you what's made us this way,
Because forever means forever, don't let it slip away.
