Forest Walk
I can't explain, but
 Something about those fluttering leaves
So shiny- they wink at me from the trees
 so tall
 they swallow the sky
Except where it peeps through the chinks in the armor, like a naughty child
Something I can't explain, but it lifts deep in me and
 bursts
to swirl out and join the rest in harmony
And the whole world gleaming like a perfect emerald
 Dotted with turquoise
 And wreathed with birdsong-
 Something I don't understand
 and I can't come back
But I wouldn't trade this ever
Not for all the gems in Africa
