The Shepard and His Sheep
The Shepard adores all his sheep,
But there is something that he knows,
Though each one he would like to keep,
One by one, they all must go
The sheep head off with heightened faith
At a new life raw with hope,
The Shepard stays close to keep them safe,
Steals their pain to help them cope
The sheep feel grief, sickness, hate
Many aches through them do roam
The Shepard watches to seal the fate,
Of when the sheep must come back home,
Home to endless fields and brighter skies,
To the Shepard's blessing: no more cries
