It surrounds us all in these modern times
In our world many are breathing their last breath
Some innocent, some paying for their crimes
The quest in life is to overcome death
Religious people put their faith in God
The rest do not believe something awaits
Some fear the end, hiding behind facades
Our sum of time is left up to the Fates
There is no key to immortality
But there is no reason to fear this strife
Death can be the final fatality
But not the final episode of life
We all have to reach our life’s December
Perhaps to defeat death we remember

It's interesting... In a good way. I think the only wording I'd change is maybe 'sum'- try and find a synonym for that, maybe? It made me think, which is good. I also really like the thing about 'Life's December.' I feel like it could be cliched but it's not... I like it! Great work.
