The door creaks quietly,softly,Mercury starts to stalk me.
Her ears twitch,and her tail stands straight up,swishing to and fro.
This is how the game begins,I pretend not to see.
She sneaks closer to my chair,keeping very low.
I can hardly keep from laughing when she attacks from behind.
How I love this four-legged mischief maker,
I know she must be one of a kind,
She looks at me like "I gotcha!",but I know she's just a faker.
Her playful antics make me happy when I'm down,
She always knows when I need her,and when to hop into my lap,
I love Mercury,my seven-toed clown,
But she's not always cuddly; she can give you quite a slap!
