Swept away by the selfish hands of death
A last goodbye flees from your trembling lips
Mute the world to hear your last painful breath
Tears start to fall as your lifeless hand slips
Dilatory days shift into the next
Never forgetting the love that you left
My feet stay idle, my mind simply vexed
Your swift departure, the worst kind of theft
Keeping my heart open to maintain joy
Though nothing will fill your place in my life
I try to move on, find things to enjoy
Even as this sorrow stings like a knife
No amount of time will make me forget
Love is forever, eternally set.
