The Ocean Night
The waves crash against the cliffs as the day moves on,
As the sun sinks below the horizon after a busy day,
The silver moon rises into the night sky until dawn.
The gentle ocean breeze carries through the air as it sways.
The moonlight reflects off the ocean’s surface in the night,
The palm trees dance in the night breeze the cool and quiet,
Every one of the seagulls has gone and taken flight.
The time passes as hours and the seconds like minutes.
The stars are like small shining lights in the atmosphere,
They look so small in the sky, yet are huge and far away,
Like all those nights alone in the fierce nightmares of the year.
The moon, in its beautiful silver shade, is a pale grey.
The ocean at night is all of the beauty it shows, yet also the lives,
Its tides of fury and ferociousness have taken that.
