Bedtime for Bill Yan
Even as evening sun breaks and fades away,
Skin and spirit tired alike from today,
As Sharp eyes go shoddy, while dull pains grow sharp,
There lies no rest for the weary. But–
Should soft bones recline too deep into sleep,
Then stuck there in that state they shall stay…
Well, it is a different type of headache
When my alarm sounds and leads dreams away,
Although I know I went to bed too late.
Though I could not help it if I tried,
Was it so hard to have a “good night?”
At the eleventh hour, even young eyes
Can grow tired and old, waiting on some-
One to tuck them in to rest.
