The All-Consuming Void
Hunger, I feel that it is on its way,
the ache returns to haunt me every day.
I once thought that I had satiated it-
but its grip on me means I must submit.
This craving inside me will never stop.
It growls at me to consume some more slop.
It is a great maw, a bottomless pit:
a black hole, from which light cannot emit.
It's gnawing, pulling at my insides.
The yearning for food never subsides.
I will never be free from this foul curse,
not until that final ride in the hearse
For hunger has its horrid hooks in me:
and eternally hungry I shall be.

I wrote this piece about one of the strongest urges we can feel as humans: hunger. I wrote this sonnet before dinner, and was inspired by my own voracious appetite.
