That tiny voice playing your ears
Sweet words to manipulate the mind
Strings attached like a puppeteer
Telling you to have a different kind
Of emotion sweeping through
One that will raise arms up and up
Against friends and family true
Lashing out, words biting to cut
The curtain of rage drawing away
Eyes aghast and wet with tears
At the hurt thrown to betray
Actions once done would never be clear
But for a different voice cutting through the whisper
One of gentle reason and that of hope will flitter.
