Last Day

May 4, 2019
By Anonymous

When I wake, I feel both joy and sorrow,

I smile at the fact that I won’t feel trapped,

And mourn, for I won’t see friends tomorrow,

Mixed emotions make it hard to react.

Taking my last steps on the hard concrete,

I think of the nerves I’d felt at the start,

Swallow; I push feelings to the back seat,

Set free from these trials, I play my part.

When finally seated, I can’t stay still,

My mind wanders, hoping the bell will ring,

This unbearable tension makes me ill,

Although, summer break will feel like a fling

Ding; 175 days done.

Tic Tic; I wait for summer to be none.
