"The darker the night, the brighter the stars; the deeper the grief, the closer is God" - Fyodor Dostoevsky

Emptiness... there’s nothing left: no songs
No love, no beauty to shine on my heart.
As old ghosts fade and I commit new wrongs,
Despair fills my soul: my mind is torn apart
With hate for the past and fear of my fate.
But as I look out my bedroom window
A new feeling comes and I take the bait;
I see leaves breathe, birds sing, under my willow.

Over grey mountains the sun sets the sky on fire,
And hope drips into my heart, ridding me of ire.

I wrote this poem while sitting at my desk, on the brink of despair. Who knew summer could be so cold and heartbreaking.
