Once it wear off
let it go,
go away into your skin.
Clear your skin from
rusted parts;
Let your burns hide within.

Keep head up high,
yes, I’m trying to
let this past fade
rid of these tattoos.
Just give them time,
and that’s what they’ll do
that’s what they’ll do
it’s true…

Put the cross
upon my chest,
and I wrote your name right here.
Had a dove
across my back,
but by my eye I had a tear
see the skull
on my shoulder
to show the dull I’ve seen in the world
and all the terrible that had occurred,
But you choose to see me as a monster.

Keep head up high
yes, I’m trying to
let this past fade
rid of these tattoos
just give them time
and that’s what they’ll do,
that’s what they’ll do.
Show pride;
don’t hide
behind colored inks.
Let it all go,
let it fade and sink.
No more, no more
do I need, do I need to be
worried.

When they scar
where does it even hurt:
on the skin or in the heart
‘cause everywhere I’m being torn apart
as these tattoos trickle inside my delicate core
burning me more.
I try to hide the tattoos
so that I do not hide
the perfect skin shown on the outside.

Keep head up high,
yes, I’m trying to
let this past fade
rid of these tattoos.
Just give them time
and that’s what they’ll do,
that’s what they’ll do.
Show pride;
don’t hide
behind colored inks.
Let it all go
let it fade and sink.
No more, no more
do I need, do I need to be
worried.

So cleanse me of
these tattoos now,
so I can be free.

I wrote this song to express my feelings about holding on to and trying to release my sadness and depression.
