What We Became
  (Verse one)
Where you one of those children
Who'd see the world and say
I'll never grow up, go hard, get bad
  I won't become that way.
Cause the world's a bitter cold place
  And I like being warm.
I know that I'll be one who makes it
  Through the storm
But every dream must soon awake
And as the years go by
There's a certain pain you feel
No matter how hard you try
  I was a cursed angel
  And so I fell
Don't want to go to heaven
But I hate living here in hell
  (Chorus)
If Adam really fell for joy
  Why did God make me?
  If everyone just pretending?
  Is anyone really happy?
Yeah we try to hide it
They say wounds heal over time
  But how can you win
  A war against your mind
  (Verse 2)
The world is just a ball of rock
  It's not to blame.
  What makes life so bitter
Is all the people we became
  Its the day of horror
Look in the mirror and see
The very thing you feared the most
  Is your reality
And yeah we seem so happy
  But make no mistake
The tears I have that no one sees
Drip red from cuts I make
When life hurts more than pain itself
  You finally begin to see
  Warmth and joy cannot remain
  Because our souls are empty
  (Bridge)
  Empty, cold, Broken, alone
  (Chorus)
If Adam Really feel for joy
  Why did God make me?
  Is everyone just pretending?
  Is anyone really happy?
Yeah we try to hide it
  Hoping wounds heal over time
  But how can you win,
  A war against your mind?
  (Bridge echo)
  Empty, cold, Broken, and alone

I wrote this piece with a guitar accompaniment, the chorus of which are C G/B Am F FM for the verses, and C E F G
In all, writing music is my passion. Music describes life in a way that nothing else can. This song in particular, is highly personal to me.
We all can start off with such pure intentions, looking at the corruption in the world and knowing we won't turn out like that. That was how I was, even as I just observed those members in my family. I made promises to myself that I would 'stay good'. Yet, it's almost as if our very nature is against us. Like there's a time bomb implanted in our mind that freezes us over, and no one can escape themselves. Eventually, like Adam, we all fall. But we don't fall for happiness. We fall to misery.
