Depression the Demon
It’s funny to me that you laugh when I do
You see, I laugh at what’s inside you
That gnawing feeling you can’t satiate
Let me clarify for you: its hate
A hatred for the things you see
  In your nightmares becoming reality
And as the dreams turn into a dark light
You slowly start to reject the sight
Of a world, once so pure
Of a world you now can no longer endure…

I know the feeling, I feel your pain
As the world around you drives you insane
And slowly but surely, you want to pretend
That the world you love isn’t coming to an end
But in that end begins anew
A dark, mad world that came into view
  In a dream within a dream…

So, in order to save what’s left of your mind
You slowly leave your reality behind
And laugh at all the things you think are wrong
Like lyrics to a brand new Slipknot song
The lyrics change, the song stays the same
Laughing, you hang your head in shame
‘Cause you know very well there’s nothing you can do
To keep your heart from cracking in two
Like a valley toward El Dorado…

As the seconds fly by, you can’t even think
You start to comfort yourself with narcotics and drink
Begging these chemical gods to take
Away the invisible pains and the hollow ache
That clouds and corrupts your mind
Not wanting to love what you see, you go blind
To the things that made your world shine like gold
And the loved ones you forsake, to whom you turn cold
  You’re feeling like you’re all alone…

And the only way out is marked by a tombstone…
