When I was a boy, I would always hear scary things in the news and my mother would say to me, "Always look for the helpers. Everywhere you look you will always find people helping." - Fred Rogers

I know, I know you can't hear me.
I know, I know I'm unfair.
Now, here lies the problem, see.
Just an odd, dysfunctional pair.
I take a look at the scrapbooks and wonder why.
I know I ain't got no alibi.

Grab and oar, and together we'll soar.
We're rowing through the canvas.
Deteriorating reds and the cold, hard blues.
Come on through the door and tell me the news.
Listen, listen, listen to this little box.
Openin' just for you.
Through the yells, the whispers and of course, the talks.
We have both come through.

Oh come on now, let's just calm down.
We've started before the race.
I know that I might seem unworthy.
But, God knows I try, he must, surely.

Time, time, time charges on above.
But I can't change the fact, can't change ya', Love.
Nope, nope. Time just can't keep up.
Keeping those sand grains in that little cup.
(Slower pace)

Dark and alone, my smile is sewn.
I'm rowing through the canvas.
I thought the cup would never run out of sand.
Like a clock without the hour hand.
I can point to where I've been, but not for what part.
I don't where I end, or where I start.

So, fly, fly, fly, and say goodbye.
You've escaped the canvas.
It's so hard to hear, with half of me gone.
So, put your quarters in.
I'm certain they have our song.

It goes grab and oar, and together we'll soar.
We're rowing through the canvas.
Deteriorating reds and the cold, hard blues.
Come on through the door and tell me the news.
Listen, listen, listen to this little box.
Openin' just for you.
Through the yells, the whispers and of course, the talks.
Our journey ended with you.

This is my first attempt at something I like to call a "Fast-Slow Poem." It's a poem that I imagine being very energetic and lively at the beginning, but getting very slow the second half. So, just imagine the first half being a lively tune, and the other half being a slow, somber melody. Thank you. I hope you enjoy.

Thanks for reminding us to read the comment first, it made the song lyrics much more easier to understand. I have to admit the "I know I ain't go to alibi' drew me in. Making me think of, "you aint got no alibi-you ugly haha." Nice job!!!!!!!!!!!
