"Yes: I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world."
— Oscar Wilde (The Critic as Artist)

You talk of love and sentiment,
Yet how quickly both are spent.
Love is fine, love is grand.
Whispered lies, I understand.
Your passion drives, your passion moves.
Because of lust, I cling to you.

Shadows move and walls speak.
We silence them, they make us weak.
Too much want, too little need.
Somehow though we are lost between
What we thought and what we knew.
So much confusion, so I cling to you.

I cling to you
Because of want, not for need,
All I want is everything.
What you are, and what you’ve been
Is mine to take with me in the end.
Nothing that you can do
So you just let me cling to you.

You trust my words at their face.
Your trust will be your mistake.
So easy to convince and confuse,
Your love is under my abuse.
Simple lines you assume are true.
So willing, so I cling to you.

I sip my desire through the rings
Of love and lust and other things,
And as the world falls apart,
You give me your still beating heart.
Acts of love, they are profuse.
So much greed, so I cling to you.

I cling to you,
Because of want, not for need.
All I want is everything.
What you are, what you’ve been
Is mine to take with me in the end.
Nothing that you can do
So you simply let me cling to you.

The way you touch, the way you kiss,
So many ways I swear I’ll miss.
This was never meant to last.
Our only thought was a single act.
Last times? There have been a few.
So why is it I still cling to you?

This was never meant to be our sin,
Yet so much more beneath the skin.
Mistakes we make, and we must pay.
The debt is ours, and it’s too late.
There is still so much left to do,
Yet somehow still I cling to you.

I cling to you
Always my want. Never my need.
All we have is everything.
What you were, what I’ve been
Doesn’t matter in the end.
All these plans, but nothing we can do.
You cling to me and I cling to you.

This was inspired by relationships I've seen. Relationships where one person is so much more invested than the other or where one person is using the other.
