Ticking clocks remind me that I'm still alive; Taunting me with consistencies at this hectic time.

He's breathing really hard,
And he's not quite sure;
If he's running out of breath,
Or he wants some more.
He's finally found,
What he's been searching for;
A girl that he can love,
With a beauty so pure.

Shaking really hard,
When she starts to think;
She's so preoccupied,
She forgets to blink.
Her thoughts begin to race,
And she's oh so scared;
Her tears begin to fall,
When he returns her stare.

And he says
I won't let anything happen to you,
I'll always be right here by your side;
No need to worry about the future baby,
You've got no reason to cry.

Slightly reassured,
She collects her things;
She moves across the mattress,
And it squeaks the springs.
She walks out the door,
And to her car;
Her companion for the trip,
Are the shooting stars.

At four in the morning,
He gets a call;
Little does he know,
It's the hospital.
He jumps out of bed,
And he's on the street;
In less than an hour,
He's by her feet.

And he cries
I won't let anything happen to you,
I'll always be right here by your side;
No need to worry about the future baby,
You've got no reason to cry.

She opens her eyes,
Not yet fully awake;
She sees him sleeping on the chair,
Only inches from her face.

She shakes his arm,
Startled he jumps to his feet;
Words escape him in the moment,
He finds it difficult to speak.

She whispers
I won't let anything happen to you,
I'll always be right here by your side;
No need to worry about the future baby,
You've got no reason to cry.
