Choice
When I was so lost
 In darker times
 You told me once
 To close my eyes

 And there I’d find
 Someone to hold
 You told me lies
 You’ve left me alone

And I never knew I had the choice to go
When it was so very long ago
 Awaiting your harsh praise
 Don’t look for coming days

 I hid my darkest secrets
From you so I could keep them
I’m proud to say I did that
So I could leave without my weakness

 And entering the winter
My heart was cold and empty
 Reflected by the weather
I was left with nothing easy

And I never knew I had the choice to go
When it was so very long ago
 Awaiting your harsh praise
 Don’t look for coming days

 When the world
 Is lonely
 And love is stirring
 Slowly
I’ll keep my chin up high
 It’s okay to cry

 Talk with myself
 When I
 Have no one else
 By my side
 I won’t be ashamed
 We all play this game

And I never knew I had the choice to go
When it was so very long ago
 Awaiting your harsh praise
 Don’t look for coming days
