I slip and slide on the cold stone wall
As I try to get over to freedom.
I beat my bruised wings
On the bloody bars
Of the cage that separates me from what I want.

So won't You be my Savior
And rescue me from my sins?

Cause my soul cries out to You for mercy.
And my soul thirsts for You.
My soul is faint for Your love.
Rescue me from the cage I have put myself in.

There is no sky from where I lay
Caged by my own sins.
The floor is hard and it's so cold
As the wind ruffles my screaming heart.

So won't You be my Savior
And rescue me from my sins?

Cause my soul cries out to You for mercy.
And my soul thirsts for You.
My soul is faint for Your love.
Rescue me from the cage I have put myself in.

I know You hold the key.
I know You love me.
So won't you open the door
So I can fly up to the sky?

Cause my soul cries out to You for mercy.
And my soul thirsts for You.
My soul is faint for Your love.
Rescue me from the cage I have put myself in.

The author's comments:
I was praying to God for a moving song that would touch people's hearts when I was wondering how the stone wall on the bathtub would feel. I know this sounds really stupid, but I was truly curious, so I reached out and touched it. And the words just flowed from my mouth. Whenever I write a song as powerful as this (powerful to me), I am amazed by what a precious gift God has given to me and how wonderful He truly is. I will give all the glory and honor to Him because it was He who put this song in my heart.
