Reading Between The Lines
He looked you in the eyes and he told you so many lovely things
He held you close and he told you jokes
He smiled bright, and he hugged you tight
He whispered the “L-word” in your ear plenty of times
Always using it between one of his clever lines
 So many beautiful lines

He told you he loved you
He said he’d never leave you
 He was a liar
 But you were his believer
He said you were the one
 A girl unlike anyone
 He was a tool
 But you were his fool

So it ended and you cried
 And cried and cried
 He destroyed your trust
 Because he wanted lust
 He shattered your heart
Now all you can do is fall apart

You hate him because of the stupid tears
You dry them because you know it's futile
When you thought he vanquished all your fears
Nobody ever warned you, love is brutal

He told you he loved you
He said he’d never leave you
 He was a liar
 But you were his believer
He said you were the one
 A girl unlike anyone
 He was a tool
 But you were his fool
