Morning Lost

I woke up late this dark morning
Feeling sad and sorry, too slow.
Wanting only to be so alone.
No one to see my dead eyes—yeah.

Hear the drudging drizzle of that rain,
Pitter pattering near above my head,
Nibbling, nabbling, gnawing at this beautiful mind.
Seeping in and in, reaching, wrenching. Pain.

Chorus:
And I wish it would rain, rain all the day
Not too bright, watching the rust wash down my window
Run, fly far far away

If you knew what it was like to have these eyes,
The calamitous colored dreams of a girl
The failures and rejections you’d see slide by and--
The lovely darkness come to close your lids—yeah.

And hear the silent sadness in her warm smile.
Wet, glistening lips hiding from you
What she only knows, what she has only lost.
And see the colorless pale Her falling down, down your window.

Chorus x2:
And I wish it would rain, rain all the day
Not too bright, watching the rust wash down my window
Run, fly far far away

When you get up in the morning, and you just don't want the day.
