Darling, it’s Sunday, but that boy’s all alone
Upon a cold rock, so far, far from his home

Baby can you give him a lift tonight
And walk him down the starlight

You were gently perfect for him
So sweet, your love was never dim

Whenever tears in his eyes would swell
Inside your arms, he could dwell

Can you excuse that lost boy?
Who thought your love was a toy

He has no idea what he just did
Still ignorin’ the fact that he’s stupid

But those voices had made him blind
Was too afraid to feel his mind

He’d gone down to your mansion to knock
But realized his shadow was on the door lock

Time will come when he’ll cry
And only think- oh my

“I let go of my own life!
Acting like I was just five”

Years have passed, now that boy’s a man
But he’s still unsure of his plan

All his friends are at the party dancing
But he is lying on the floor dreaming

“Oh, Heaven please help me get back to her,
Her summer voice is all I remember!”

He sits alone in drunken sorrow
Drives home, hoping for tomorrow

He used to be too gullible
But this heartbreak is terrible

Nostalgia pulls back, the pain is true
So, he only wants forgiveness from you

He doesn’t feel special on his birthday
Stays too tired and scared even on a Sunday

Everyone here says tis the season
But without you, he has no reason

To raise a glass to those good times
Too sad, so he just wrote these lines

An emotionally poignant tribute to times which I wish I could re-live.
