I Miss

Your laughter at me
When I would tell horrible jokes
Just to make you smile.

Your perfect advice
When I was indecisive
And at a crossroad.

I miss your comfort,
The way you’d mother me as
If I were your child.

I miss cooking with
You, dancing in the kitchen,
Working by your side.

Music no longer
Can flow from your piano
Or pass through your lips.

I miss your heart and
Loving personality.
Simply, I miss you.

You're an incredible writer, Ms. Ild. I've seen, read, and heard of many authors and artists who try to fathom what it means and what it is like to grieve through their art form, some spending years perfecting them, trying to do to their audience what you just did to me in your short collection of Haiku. You moved me to tears, Ms. Ild. Thank you for that, and please, please keep writing.
