I've Met Hunger
The more I ate
The more it ate away
So I stopped
I met hunger beneath my second glass of ice this morning
She had cheekbones
and rib bones
and collar bones
All manner of bones
Boastingly proud through her dress
And I believed I had met an angel,
So beautiful was she
And I ignored her hair,
Thinning
Saw in place a smile,
Winning
And suddenly I need never pass anything between my lips again
But choke down the words
“I am full” and “I am happy”
At every meal time
When my stomach isn’t the only thing empty,
When I am so goddamn hollow
That I am afraid nothing will ever fill me
Yet fear the feeling of full
I've met Hunger
She says hi.
She says you would look nice with a thigh gap
