Peaked
We were the highest in the spring.
not in the summer like one would expect,
but the sun wrapped its arms around us all the same and sunk into our pores and warmed us from the inside like a f***ing microwave.
And a peak implies a fall and that's when I stopped believing in God
because you would think that something so holy and timeless and infallible as us would be spared from the inevitable damnation and destruction Earth faces.
And now I live in a state of meanwhile
as I can’t wait to meet my fate
just to see your face again.

I wrote this piece as a reflection of my sophomore year- specifically my birthday. Every day was filled with friends and happiness and love, and late nights were spent in my dorm with my best friends getting high. I compare this- this consistent state of euphoria- with my current experience and this year- where my best friends went to rehab or were expelled and I was suspended twice and formally diagnosed as an addict.
