A Summer of You and I
My memories flow together,
And meet at the same location,
Like many tracks connecting,
At the same train station,
Soft tan sand beneath my feet,
As you and I run the length of the beach,
Carefully stepping through the jagged broken shells of uncertainty,
Washed ashore by the obstructing tide,
And plunging into the cold, salty ocean,
The forceful waves push us towards shore,
Still, we make it past the harsh waters,
Emerging even stronger on the other side,
The water is calm and refreshing,
On our pale northwestern skin,
Looking across the endless blue ocean,
Shimmering and bold like your irises,
Eyes so deep I could fall in,
But be perfectly fine floating through,
Swimming into the end together.
