Here I lay alone in the bed we once made
Remembering the times that you stayed
Growing is okay
Whether it’s together or away
Cradled my heart in your hands
And carried it far far away

To the highest place
with a tremble of grace
A quiver of your hands
You sympathized for the pain
But I still fell from the highest heights
I fell into chasm of despair

Fingertips leaving a path of bruises down my spine
His nails like daggers in my skin
Cutting in jagged lines
I could see the darkness through the cracks
I can see the sky fading red into black
The day is done

My heart fell from beyond the breaking point
Your hands still imprint my mind
Of sovereign watch
You disappeared beyond the light

I recently lost my best friend who was also my boyfriend. I had always felt as though he was my protector, but one day he decided to stop caring for me. We broke up soon after.
