Maroon
The words won’t come
I know I have to speak,
But they’re stuck
The words
They’re thick
Thick with emotion
Full of meaning
Full of embrace
But they feel nothing
No hearts
No brains
No people
They’re gone. “Gone with the wind,” she says
Gone
I stand still
Still with the earth
The earth that we embrace
The earth that embraces us
Every breath, every meaningless action, every lost word, is gone
With the wind, gone with the wind on the earth
This God
This wordless God
The One that created
The earth and colors that He created
The words that are gone
And the earth
The words that God created to cure us are
Thick in our remaining mouths to cry out our
Meaningless words to the lost winds and maroon skies and crimson seas
Around us for all the years to come

I have written this piece years ago. I found it recently and decided that I should post it somewhere.
