Never Again
“Make revolution, not a revolver.”
15 shot down at Columbine High School.
“Never again,” they said...
“I didn’t realize murder was a controversial statement.”
32 shot down at Viginia Tech.
“Never again,” they said...
“The scariest thing in school should be my math grade.”
9 shot down at Oikos University.
“Never again,” they said...
“These arms are for hugging.”
27 shot down at Sandy Hook.
“Never again,” they said...
“Make America love again.”
17 shot down at Stoneman Douglas High School.
“Never again,” they said...
Never again they said.
Never again never comes.
We learn about our Second Amendment,
But we never learn from it.
We sit here and think it won’t happen to us,
But when it does, we aren’t shocked.
We have normalized it.
Never again...
But we never think that normal could be bad.
Students come for books, not bullets,
They come for their GPA, not for the NRA,
They come for the school play, not the school funeral,
Students practice fire drills once a month,
Yet a fire in a school has not happened in over 50 years.
Never again...
“March for our lives.”
800,000 stood up in Washington, D.C.
“Never again.” they chanted.
March for our lives
We will be the reason “never again,” comes.

After the Stoneman Douglas High School school shooting, I wrote this poem for a class and a poetry festival my class was going to. I hope people will stand up and fight to save these innocent kids. I decided to finally share it with others after the Texas school shooting.
