I thought you were something special,
something prized beyond my compare.
You told me that you felt the same,
but your actions left me in disdain.
I thought that you were something special,
a surprise only that I could bear.
You blushed and told me I was pretty,
and my laughter was giddy.
I thought that I was something special,
something that you never wanted to lose.
But you threw me aside,
and left me teary-eyed.
I thought that we were something special,
but I guess I was wrong.
For you told me I was not,
and I believed what you thought.
