The Beginning of the End
The red sun rises over the football field
Pink skies start to turn blue.
Seniors scatter all over the lawn
Excitement filling the room.
The red scoreboard lights up once again
The last time for some players to join the game.
Tears fill the eyes of the students as
The end score reads [something awful]
The red cross lights up at the hospital
Monitors begin to beep
“Someone’s got to save him!”
my mother weeps.
Soon mothers everywhere have eyes
That turn red with tears
As they watch their children
Walk across the stage to face their fears.
Graduation is a time for happiness,
Sadness, confusion, and terror.
It all works out in the end
If not, there’s an error.
Keep in mind, we’re still just kids
We need some help to keep our lids.

This is my first time to submit a poem. I was inspired to write this poem because it captures the good times and bad times of my senior year. I hope that I can look back on this and see that through all of the trials and triumphs I made it out on top.
