Don't Forget About Me
Please don’t forget about me,
The moments when I put Band-Aids on your scraped knee
and the nights I let you cook dinner with me on the stove top,
the tissues I gave you if I ever saw a tear drop,
and the warm hugs I would give to bring you at ease.
Spring mornings we would crack the window and feel a breeze,
Pack a lunch; go to the park, the days that were carefree,
Sitting back, watching you grow, and wishing it could just stop.
Please don’t forget about me.
The smile you gave me while wondering how a child could love to eat peas
Long Christmas breaks spent at the mall going on shopping sprees
All of the eye rolls and complaints because you didn’t want to mop,
Turned into smiles because I said you could have a soda pop
All these moments I want to go back in time and just freeze
Please don’t forget.
