Jardin Imaginaire de L'amour
Come take a visit to my
exquisite flower bed
Pink peonies glisten
Roses grow on dread
Bees dance on snapdragons
Honey warm and sweet
Ice cold pink lemonade
Hot summer heat
Walk through the garden arch
leave your worries behind
Let go of the pain of March
the blood and bombs of July
You can bring a friend or two
See purple cumulonimbus above
Fire meets fire, hate meets hate
Right here, love meets love
Pull some Jasmine off the grass
Raise it to your nose
Feel warm wind blow past your face
Let vexations decompose
Look up at the forever orange sky
Forget your life before
Welcome to my garden bed
ici nous cultivons l'amour

This piece, while fantastical and surreal, was inspired by the recent gun violence and school shootings in America. It had a lot of double entendres, and I wrote it with a picture in mind of this garden where you could go to escape the pain of the real world, or alternatively, a place where the victims of gun violence would go after their passing.
