How I Was Raised
I was raised to respect all around me
I was raised to always be polite to women, and treat them as I myself would want to be treated
I was raised to respect adults, and always say 'good morning', 'good afternoon', and 'good evening'
I was raised to never hit or touch a girl in any way that made her uncomfortable
So why
Why have my peers, some I've grown up with
Not followed these rules?
I look around me, and I see rape after rape
I hear 'nice guys finish last'
I'm told experience after experience men mistreating women
But why not me?
Why haven't I succumbed to the pressure?
Because of how I was raised
So why
Why have my peers
Some I've grown up with
Ignore these rules?
