Lucas,
I love your hugs
that you give me when I first see you.
I love how your little legs
run up to me, and you ask for a hug
as soon as I’m in the door.
As I look down at
your big, contagious smile.
One spreads across my face, too.
I love your little laugh
it warms my heart. Your laugh
is my favorite thing in the world.
When I remember that time
we sat in the car and you
talked gibberish
but somehow I understood you.
I’m reminded that I will always love you.
