Be a Lifeguard
I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for this to happen
All I see is great friendships collapsing
I can’t take it, we all try to hide
All the pain and shame we feel inside
But I’m swallowing my pride.
I’m not perfect, nowhere near
Most of my friends live in fear
Fear of failure, fear of strife
Oh please God, break their knife
Cutting, my friends is not ok.
I know it hurts but you’re gonna make it
Society is screwed up and I can’t take it
Telling us all we have no purpose
When beauty’s just beneath the surface.
Let go of your chains, bondage, and pain
Come with me, let’s dance in the rain
Take one big breathe, it’ll be ok
Please just make it through today.
Depression is serious, life seems meaningless
Be there for people when they’re sinking
Let them tell you what they’re thinking
Love those around you, be there, and care.
Deep deep down in all their pain
Your friends feel alone, unwanted, insane
Helping them to see the truth
This is should be taught to youth.
I tell people I want to be a lifeguard,
In water and in life.
